MR AND MRS PADDON BIDDEN FAREWELL

SPRINGHILLS TO LOSE POPULAR RESIDENTS

The Springhills Hall was crowded recently when a farewell was given to Mr and Mrs S. W. Paddon and their family who are leaving the district, after residing there for 11 years. During the evening numbers of items were presented by the school pupils and were warmly applauded. In presenting the guests with a sum of money, as a token of the esteem in which they have been held in the district, Mr R. White expressed regret at their departure. He also mentioned the co-operation that had been given by Mr and Mrs Paddon in the social activities of the district. They had, said Mr White, also strongly supported the church, in which sphere their loss would certainly be felt. Mrs Paddon had also been willing to assist at local functions as' a singer, while Mr Paddon had for some years been a member of the school committee.

Mr Paddon replied. Mr White also thanked the teacher, Mr J. P. Ramsay, and the school pupils for their assistance in making the evening a success. Among those present were:—Mr and Mrs R.
