Excellent entries and class are represented for the Southland Whippet Racing Club’s Labour Day meeting to be held on Turnbull, Thomson Park. The chief event, the Hawes Cup (presented by Mr R. Hawes, Feilding) has drawn a very good field. Canterbury, West Coast and Otago dogs will be competing and a good afternoon’s racing is assured. NOVICE HANDICAP, 180 yards.— Will Fyffe It, Black Banner It, Gay Gordon It, Cliff’s Gift It. MIDDLEWEIGHT HANDICAP, 200 yards.—Phantom Gold lOJyds, Osborne Beauty 14yds, Overcast ll|yds, Mora Shadow 13Jyds. HAWES CUP HANDICAP, 200 yards: First heat—Bucks Head 9yds, Hot Spur 9yds, Trix Be Good 13yds, Laddie’s Best 14yds, Hot Luck 14yds, Daring Deed 13yds.
