A double-column advertisement in this issue gives particulars of cheap fares and train and bus arrangements in connection with Labour Day weekend events. A feature of the programme is the popular week-end excursion to Christchurch leaving Invercargill at 12.20 p.m. on the Saturday. The usual 6.40 p.m. Invercargill-Christ-church Sunday night express will also run on the Friday and Monday, and on the same evenings there will be a Relief Express from Dunedin to Invercargill. On the Saturday afternoon an extra Down Express will leave Dunedin at 1.15 p.m. and for the benefit of holiday makers the availability of the usual week-end tickets issuable between stations Invercargill to Dunedin, inclusive, will be extended for return on the Tuesday following Labour Day. Patrons of the Gore Spring Races will find they have been well catered for and Invercargill race-goers will appreciate the provision of a fast non-stop train to and from the Racecourse. The Labour Day Sports at Otautau are becoming increasingly popular and this year a fast passenger train is being run from Invercargill through to Otautau at special cheap fares. Intending passengers are requested to retain the advertisement for reference and in view of the heavy demand for reservations on express trains it is advisable to book early.—Advt.
