SPRING BARGAIN FAIR

SOUTHERN CROSS SCOUTS The opening session of the spring bargain fair of the Southern Cross Scout Group, held in the St. John’s Hall yesterday, was well attended. The fair was continued last evening when a musical and dancing programme was presented. From a financial point of view, the fair was very successful. Attractively-decorated stalls ineluded produce, fancy goods, cakes, sweets, mystery, books and flower stalls. Tea-rooms were also conducted. Before the official opening ceremony last evening the Scout Group, headed by the Battalion Boys’ Band, paraded through the main streets of the city to the hall where the Deputy-Mayor (Mr J. R. Martin) performed the opening ceremony. The organizer said he wished to thank Mr Rowe, Miss Lewis and her pupils, Miss Bourke and the many others whose generosity made the fair a success.
