German submarines are still keeping far afield from the trade routes and for the past week there has been no report of the sinking of any British snip. One small vessel is overdue but a _ variety of causes may have occasioned delay in its arrival in port. A semi-official statement in Paris says that a dozen U-boats were sunk or badly damaged in September.
