NATIONAL COUNCIL OF WOMEN

The monthly meeting of the National Council of Women was held at the Southland Women’s Club on Wednesday afternoon. Mrs Stanley Brown presided. Mrs Brown reported that because no conference is being held this year, all matters of urgency will be dealt with by mail. A report was also given by Mrs Brown on the newly-formed class for women motorists at the Technical College. A remit to be sent to headquarters was read: “That this branch asks that the Minister of Defence (the Hon. F. Jones) be approached, to consider the immediate appointment of women police in centres where there are military camps adjacent.”
