PUBLIC NOTICES INDUSTRIAL EFFICIENCY ACT, 1936 FLAX-MILLING INDUSTRY APPLICATIONS FOR LCENCES MOTILE is hereby given that, purll suant to the provisions of the Industry Licensing (Flax-milling) i Notice 1939, all persons who are engaged in the above industry are required to ob- ’ tain licences from the Bureau of Industry to continue carrying on the industry on and after the 21st October, 1939. The above notice further requires that such applications must be lodged with the Bureau of Industry on or before the 14th October, 1939. Application forms may be obtained from the offices of the Department of Industries and Commerce at Auckland, Wellington, Christchurch and Dunedin. The industry of “the milling of Phormium products” is defined in the above notice as follows: “Milling of Phormium products” means the processing of Phormium products from the plant Phormium tenax and includes the baling of Phormium products for export or for local use: “Phormium products” means hemp, tow, stripper-tow, or stripper-slips: “Hemp” means the dressed fibre of the plant Phormium tenax, but does not include tow, stripper-tow, or stripper slips: “Tow” means the waste fibre produced during the process of scutching Phormium tenax. “Stripper-tow” means the waste fibre which has been produced during the process of stripping Phormium tenax and which has been carded. “Stripper-slips” means the waste fibre which has been produced during the process of stripping Phormium tenax and which has not been carded.
