MORTON BEATS PARRIS ON TECHNICAL KNOCK-OUT (United Press Association) DUNEDIN, October 8. In a professional welterweight bout here last night, Mayne Morton (10.4 J beat Billy Parris (10.6&) on a technical knock-out in the eleventh round. Parris was well ahead on points up to the sixth, when Morton took a fresh lease of life and fought like a whirlwind. Parris stood up gamely to a terrific battering in the tenth and eleventh rounds and was so far gone near the end of the eleventh that the referee had no alternative but to stop the fight and award the decision to Morton.
