INVERCARGILL CLUB’S CHAMPIONSHIPS QUALIFYING ROUNDS COMPLETED The second qualifying round of the Invercargill Golf Club’s championships was played on Saturday under ideal conditions, the course being hard and playing shorter than it has done since the beginning of the season. There was an improvement in the scoring compared with the first round, but the figures should have been better than they were. The varying pace of the greens had many of the competitors guessing and they were too often short with approach putts. For the fourth year in succession H. W. Rogers won the Smith Cup for the best aggregate gross score. He took 81 on Saturday, but just beat M. O’Dowda for the-trophy. The October medal handicap was played in conjunction with the second qualifying round. , The following qualified:—
