MIGHT OF NAZI ARMS

Defence Of Warsaw “Criminal Folly” HITLER’S COMMENT TO JOURNALISTS (United Press Assn.—Telegraph Copyright) (Received October 6, 11.50 p.m.) . LONDON, October 6. The Warsaw correspondent of the Associated Press of America states that before Herr Hitler left Warsaw for Berlin by aeroplane he said: “I wish that certain statesmen who are trying to turn all Europe into another Warsaw might see what you saw today.” To other journalists he added “Gentlemen, you see for yourselves what criminal folly it was trying to defend this city and how unwise it is to resist German arms.”

Herr -Hitler, accompanied by the Chief of the German General Staff (General Wilhelm Keitel), the Chief of the Gestapo (Herr Heinrich ' Himmler) and other prominent leaders, reviewed troops in the presence of the Commander-in-Chief of the Gerrrian Army (General Walther von Brauchitsch) and other military leaders. Herr Hitler issued as the Order of the Day: “On September 1 you arose at my. command to defend the Reich from Polish attack. This day brings an end to the battle carried on in the best traditions of German arms. I know you are ready for anything and the German people proudly thank you. “With unshakable confidence the Nation again looks to its armed forces and its leaders. We remember the dead who sacrificed their lives that Germany might live.”
