TOWN SENIOR TEAM HAS WIN
The men’s hockey season in Invercargill finished on Saturday, when _ a Town senior team beat a Town junior team by three goals to two. The match was not seriously contested and the , result was not a true indication of the relative merits of the teams. The play was not of a high standard, both teams missing many opportunities. The game was marred by a big number of infringements and a lot of indiscriminate hitting. The first goal went to the senior team. It was scored by H. Gray, who followed in after a forward rush. The junior forwards had several attempts at goal before C. Gray shot from an angle and equalized the score. Just before half time T. Hennessy scored for the senior team.
The junior team brought the scores level soon after half time and just before full time the seniors gained the winning goal. Many of the players in both teams were playing out of their customary positions and there were some wild scrambles. The teams were:
SENIOR.—H. Rennick, K. Lythgoe, P. Semmens, M. Keane, L. Campbell, W. Semmens, I. D. Speirs, T. Hennessy, H. Gray, W. Barraclough. JUNIOR.—G. Fredric, E. Stewart, N. Speirs, K. Drummond, V. McMillan, L. Anderson, C. Martin, N. Dawson, H. Poole, C. Gray, H. Ritchie. Messrs W. Purvis and H. Perrin were the umpires.
