PLUNKET SOCIETY At a meeting of the Ohai branch of the Plunket Society Mrs C. Baineaves presided over the following members: Mesdames J. Lowrie. A. Lowrey, W. H. Jones, T. Young, T. Small and R. Reid. Mrs J. Lowrie was appointed secretary in place of Mrs D. W. Kaye, who recently relinquished the position. Ways and means of raising funds were discussed and it was finally decided to canvas the district. Mrs J. Lowrie and Mrs C. Baineaves were appointed signing officers for the ensuing year. TENNIS CLUB The tenth annual meeting of the Ohai Tennis Club was presided over by Mr D. Taylor. - The balance-sheet was adopted. The following officers were elected:— Patron, Mr T. Young; president, Mr R. Bird; secretary, Mr A. Sayers; treasurer, Mr J. Horner; vice-presi-dents, Mr D. Taylor and Mr J. Horner; general committee, Messrs D. Taylor, A. Sayers, R. Bird, J. Horner and Mesdames Bird and J. Ferguson; executive committee, secretary, treasurer and Mr D. Taylor; challenge secretary, Mr D. Taylor; grounds committee, president, secretary and treasurer; social committee, Mesdames R. Bird, J. Ferguson, G. Johnston, S. L. Gardner and Messrs J. Horner and D. Taylor; delegates to sub-union, secretary and treasurer. Opening day was set down for September 30, for which invitations were extended to the Riverton, Wairio, Nightcaps and Otautau clubs. A vote of thanks was accorded the retiring secretary (Mr D. Taylor) for his work during the year. It was decided to enter one A team and one B team in the Western District competition this season. BOWLING CLUB At the annual meeting of the Ohai Bowling Club Mr James Broome presided over 12 members. The balance-sheet was presented and adopted. The funds of the club were stated to be in a satisfactory position. The election of officers resulted:— President, Mr James Broome; vicepresident, Mr R. Reid; secretary, Mr J. Burleigh; treasurer, Mr W. Russell; delegates to sub-centre, president and secretary; green-keeper, Mr Thomas Todd; green ranger, Mr W. Welsh; steward, Mr W. Dover; general committee, president and secretary and Messrs T. Todd, J. Thompson, W. Welsh, W. Russell, R. M. Murray, R. Ross, W. Dover, T. Smith, R. Reid and C. Baineaves; selectors, J. Burleigh and R. Reid. The membership fee was fixed at £l/10/-. It was decided that the greenkeeper receive £1 a week and free membership. It was decided to hold the following competitions: Singles, pairs and rinks. Mr C. Baineaves offered silver ferns for the pairs competition. The secretary was asked to inquire into suitable colours for the club.
