HIGHER SCALE APPROVED BY COUNCIL Increases in wages and longer holidays for dustmen employed by the Invercargill City Council were approved by the council last night. The Works Committee recommended increases in wages from £5/2/- to £5/10/- a week, and an increase in the annual holiday from seven to 11 working days. It was also recommended that leggings in addition tc the present oilskin coats be provided and that extra assistance be given when working conditions were too severe and particularly after the King’s Birthday.
