Drizzling Rain

(Special to The Times)

WELLINGTON, August 10. Following is the special weather forecast for Southland, issued by the meteorological office, Wellington:— Light to moderate and freshening winds, between east and south. Weather dull and, in places, misty, with drizzling rain, especially along the coast Temperatures cooler. Sea slight to moderate. ' Following is the Dominion forecast: — Weather dull and misty in eastern districts south of Banks Peninsula, with drizzling rain elsewhere, unsettled with occasional rain; conditions better, however, in the Auckland and Hawke’s Bay provinces and improving later also in Westland. Temperatures mild in the north, becoming cooler in the south. General situation. —An extensive and complex depression covers the Tasman Sea and New Zealand, but pressure is beginning to rise over south-eastern Australia. Winds.—Moderate to strong northwesterlies to westerlies north of Nelson and Marlborough; variables thence southwards, but with moderate easterlies to south-easterlies predominating. Seas.—New Zealand waters, rather rough to rough north of Westport and about Cook Strait; slight to moderate elsewhere. Eastern Tasman Sea, fresh westerly, winds in the central and northern portions, moderate southeasterlies in the southern portion and southerlies later becoming more general. Seas moderate to rather rough. The weather in Invercargill yesterday was wet and overcast The steady rain ceased late last nieht. At one o’clock this morning the weather was overcast and light rain was falling. The barometer readings for the past three mornings have been: This morning (falling) 29.14 in. Thursday 29.25 in. Wednesday 29.28 in.
