Miss Kathleen Moffett, Albert street, will leave by tomorrow night’s express for a holiday in Christchurch. Mrs W. . A. McGregor arrived from Wellington a few days ago and is a guest at the Grand Hotel. Mrs J. I. West, New Plymouth, is spending a holiday with her mother, Mrs C. W. Wilson, South Hillend. Mrs C. Unwin, Winchester, South Canterbury, and Miss M. Mills, Isle of Wight, are the guests of Mrs L. H. Orbell, Gladstone terrace. Mr and Mrs J. W. Baldwin, Beandley Downs, Glencoe, will return to their home at the end of next week from a holiday in the North Island. Mr and Mrs J. C. Kirkland, Kelvin street, will leave Invercargill this afternoon by car for Christchurch where they will spend Grand National Week. Sir George Shirtcliffe and Lady Shirtcliffe left Wellington this week by the Wanganella for Sydney, where

they intend to stay for two months. Lady Shirtcliffe may visit New Guinea before their return to New Zealand. The prize-winners at the. Repertory Society’s bridge and mah jong drive on Thursday evening were: Contract, 'Mrs W. F. Sturman; auction, Mrs A. C. Ford; hidden number, Miss S. Falconer; mah jong, Miss B. Macdonald. News has been received from Sydney of Miss Netta Kidston, youngest daughter of Mrs Kidston, Islington street, who has been living in Sydney for the past two years. Miss Kidston has gone from one success to another and this week has been promoted to manageress-buyer in the beauty salon of Mark Foys in Sydney.
