Allison) who acted as assessor of behalf of the Southland and Otago branches. There was a good attendance at the meeting and Mr Allison was chairman. As far as wages and hours were concerned no agreemen could be reached in Conciliation Council, said Mr Allison, and the matter had been referred to the Court of Arbitration. He stated that a few minor alterations had been made to several of the conditions which would make it easier for the interpretation of the new award. He' referred to the payment of holiday pay after one month’s employment, time and a-half for Saturdays, Sundays and all statutory holidays and holidays allowed to assistants in two-vat factories. It had been mutually agreed that whatever agreement was reached, it would come into force as from the beginning of the season. Mr Allison was thanked for his report.
