TRAIN REACHES MOSSBURN

LOAD OF BALED HAY CARRIED BULL-DOZER CLEARS ROAD TO REDCLIFF The first train to reach Mossburn for about a week arrived at the township at midday yesterday wth. among other things, a load of baled hay bound for up-country stations. The train, which had two engines, one at the front and one at the rear, ha “ to plough through about 14 inches or show in the Mossbum district. A big party of workmen was carried on the train to clear any deep drifts. The load of stock food will be very welcome on some of the station where the feeding of sheep has been a serious Heavy rain began to fall at Mossbum last night and a thaw has begun. Some of the district roads are in a very slushy state. Practically all roads ye now open, the road to Redcliffs having been cleared by a bull-dozer yesterday. The Wallace County Councils snow plough has given excellent service. The freight bus to the Marion Camp, in the Hollyford valley, from Lumsden made the journey on its usual timetable yesterday. Two men, Messrs J. Monk (Lumsden) and D. Crosbie (Mossbum), made a long journey on skis on Wednesday to make sure that Mr J. Denton , his family, who have been isolated by snow for about a week in a house some distance from The Plains station were not in difficulty. They found that the family was quite safe and that it had plenty of provisions.
