MINIATURE RIFLE CLUB
There was a good attendance at the weekly shoot of the Fortrose Miniature Rifle Club. The shooting was not quite up to the standard, of the previous week. F. Ericson was top scorer with 79.4. G. Jennings and Mrs H. Golden won the weekly buttons and C. T. Ruddenklau and Mrs H. Golden won the Barrett Badges. Scores were:—

EDUCATION INSTITUTE There was a good attendance of teachers at the monthly meeting of the Southern sub-branch of the New Zealand Education Institute held in the Tokanui school. The president (Mr G, R. Kennedy) was chairman. Correspondence was received from the president of the Southland branch and it was decided to meet him in Fortrose on Friday, September 22. A discussion arose about organized sport for the winter. It was decided to hold a field day at the Tokanui School in August for all schools to the southeast of Fortrose. Final arrangements were made for the annual prize-giving and meeting of the Boys’ md Girls’ Agricultural Clubs to be held in the Tokanui School on Wednesday. July 19. Mr F. Chisholm gave a lecture on the teaching of geography. He outlined a method for the teaching of the geography of most countries by applying basic principles learnt in the geography of New Zealand.. The lecture was well illustrated by a series of appropriate maps. ■ The speaker was accorded a hearty vote of thanks. , It was decided to hold the next meeting on July 26, when women members would deal with infant-room methods.
