WEDDINGS

ROBERTSON—MILLAR The marriage was recently solemnized at Central Methodist Church of Phyllis Rachael, eldest daughter of Mr and Mrs A. C. Millar, Thomson street, and Alexander Carson, eldest son of Mr James Robertson and the late Mrs Robertson, of Bainfield road, Waikiwi. The Rev. W. W. H. Greenslade performed the ceremony and Mr Paul Wesney played the wedding music. During the signing of the register Mr R. A. Stewart sang “Bless this House.’ The church was decorated with vases of pink chrysanthemums and foliage. The bride, who was given away by her father, wore a model gown of parchment satin, cut on Grecian lines. She wore the usual veil and orange blossoms and carried a sheaf of freesias and chrysanthemums. The bridesmaid was Miss Dorothy Millar, sister of the bride, who wore a full-length frock of turquoise blue taffeta made on Victorian lines. The rucked bodice was trimmed with a pink lover’s knot held in place with forget-me-nots. She carried a Victorian posy of carnations and violets. Julia Millar, youngest sister of the bride, was flower-girl and wore midVictorian frock of rose pink taffeta and carried a Victorian posy to tone. Mr lan Robertson, brother of the bridegroom,' was best man and Messrs Cleland Millar and William Robertson were ushers.

The reception was held in the United Friendly Society’s hall, where Mrs Millar, assisted by Miss 0. Robertson and Mrs J. Robertson received the guests. The bride’s mother wore a model frock of- black silk velvet relieved with silver and a black hat. She carried a bouquet of red abutilons. Miss O. Robertson’s ensemble was blue with which she wore a London tan hat and gloves. Mrs J. Robertson wore a navy French ensemble with a toque to match and a fur.

For travelling the bride wore a model frock and coat of clover trimmed with a grey fur collar and a grey hat. Her accessories were to match. Mr and Mrs A. C. Robertson will live in Forth street, Invercargill. Before her marriage the bride was entertained by Mrs H. C. McKenzie and Mrs R. L. Printz at a bathroom evening and by Miss 0. Robertson at a pantry afternoon. Those present at the wedding reception were:—

HERRON-ARNOTT The wedding was solemnized on Thursday last of Eleanor, daughter of Mrs Arnott and the late Mr Richard Arnott, Anderson Park, Wyndham, and James, son of Mrs Herron and the late Mr Herron, of Greenvale, Waikaka. The Rev. J. Badcock, Waikaka, performed the ceremony which was held at Anderson Park.

The bride, who was given away by her brother, Mr John Arnott, wore a gown of parchment lace cut on slimfitting: lines with a cowl neckline and bodice fully gathered to the pointed waistline. The sleeves were ’puffed and finished with a point over the hand and small buttons from the elbow to the wrist. A small spray of orange blossom was worn at the neck and the button trimming was repeated at the back of the bodice. Her long parchment tulle veil was held with orange blossom and her bouquet was of white chrysanthemums and maidenhair fern.

Mrs G. Mitchell, sister of the bride, was matron of honour and wore a gown of apple green satin backed sheer with pink velvet flowers on the bodice, which had a square neckline and short puffed sleeves. Her skirt was long and slimfitting. She wore a short pink veil with a velvet flower at the side, silver shoes and carried a bouquet of jiink and cream flowers and maidenhair fem.

Joyce Margaret Mitchell, a niece of the bride, who was flower girl, wore a short rose pink taffeta frock with rucking and frills and short puffed

sleeves. A wreath of rose pink flowers matched her posy and she wore silver shoes. Mr William Kelly, Waikaka, was best man.

At the reception held in the Mimihau hall, the guests were received by Mrs Arnott, who wore a navy frock with white trimmings under a navy coat and a navy hat. She wore a cyclamen, shoulder spray. She was assisted by Mrs Kirkpatrick, the bridegroom’s sister, who wore a navy frock under a coat of match and a navy hat trimmed with a violet feather.

For travelling,-the bride wore a model frock of wine coloured georgette under a fur-trimmed bottle green coat, a green velvet toque with an eye veil and accessories to match. Mr and Mrs James Herron will live at Greenvale, Waikaka.

McVICAR—McKENZIE

A quiet wedding, but one of widespread interest was solemnized recently at the Central Methodist Church, Jed street, Invercargill, of Jessie, youngest daughter of the late Mr A. McKenzie and Mrs McKenzie, late of Glencoe, to Ernest Thomas, second son of Mr and Mrs L. McVicar, Mataura. The Rev. H. Greensdale performed the ceremony and Mr Paul Wesney played the organ. The bride, who was given away bv her brother, Mr A. McKenzie, wore a frock of cream figured satin clogue, made with long, close-fitting sleeves falling over the hand. The frock was trimmed with tiny self-covered buttons. The bodice was made with a heartshaped neckline and trimmed with orange blossoms, besides being shaped and shirred in the front. The skirt was slim fitting, falling to form a train. The tulle veil, which was worn over the face on entering the church, fell from a coronet of orange blossoms to form a second train. The bride carried a sheaf of cream roses and maidenhairfem.

Miss Margaret McKay, Glencoe, who was bridesmaid, wore a frock of green taffeta, the heart shaped neckline of which was finished with small pink flowers. The frilled, highly-puffed sleeves and tightly-fitting waistline contrasted with the full skirt. A halo of pink flowers held her circular shoulder veil in place. She wore green shoes and carried a sheaf of pink and white roses, carnations and maidenhairfern.

Marina Jones, Dunedin, a neice of the bridegroom, was flower-girl. She wore an ankle-length frock of Salmon net over satin, trimmed with salmon bows and she wore a head-band of satin flowers. She carried a bouquet, which was tied with salmon streamers.

Mr Roy McVicar, brother of the j bridegroom was best man. While the [register was beingr signed Mr A. Jones sang' “Because.Mr .Jones also sang several ’Songs at the reception. ' At the reception which was held at Elmwood Garden, Mrs M. Hamilton, :the bride’s sister and Mrs L. McVicar, I the bridegroom’s mother, received the guests. The former wore a navy pini striped costume, a fur and accessories i to tone. The latter wore a brown floral I frock under a- fur-trimmed coat and 1 accessories to match. The two-tiered wedding cake, made by Mrs L. Ross, Te Tipua, a sister of the bridegroom, was decorated with a silver vase and flowers which adorned the wedding cake of the bridegroom’s mother. ... The bridegroom’s gift to the bride was a fur stole, , while the bridesmaid and flower girl each received a gold ■ bangle. I For travelling the bride wore a self striped suit with accessories to-match. Mr and Mrs E. T. McVicar’s future .home will be in Mataura.
