SCHOOL ATTENDANCES AFFECTED
MEASLES AT EAST GORE The attendance of pupils at the East Gore school during the last fortnight has been affected considerably by the prevalence of measles and seasonal complaints. There has been a daily absence of between 35 aneb 40 pupils and the position shows no signs of improvement. At the other Gore schools the position is not so acute as at East Gore, but there are a certain number of absentees because of seasonal ailments. PLANTATION COMPETITION The judges, Messrs C. H. Tripp and David Dickie, assisted by two members of the State Forestry Department, Messrs Buchanan and Pollock, completed the judging of the Gore Agricultural and Pastoral Association’s plantation competition this week. The first award went to Mr P. J. Mulqueen, of Balfour, and Messrs H. W. C. Horrell, of Mandeville, and G. B. McKenzie, of Gore, tied for second place. Five entries were received for the competition.
