Belated Information At the Forbury Park Winter meeting a protest was lodged against Privateer on the ground of alleged inconsistent running as compared with form displayed at the Oamaru meeting, held a few days previously. The protest was dismissed, but when official information was requested in connection with the matter it could not be obtained. Now at this belated period, over a month later, It is discovered that the alleged inconsistent form was due to a burst tyre at Oamaru, comments “Sen-' tinel.” Surely such information could have been supplied at the Forbury Park meeting, and not withheld until about six weeks later at a meeting of the Trotting Association. King’s Play King’s Play, leading winner in New Zealand for the closing season, boasts a maternal line of exceptional interest. According to the New Zealand Stud Book King’s Play was sired by Blue Mountain King but other returns are indefinite where his sire is named as either Blue Mountain King or Peter Bingen (a brother to Great Bingen). Buz Buz, the dam of King’s Play, took a two-mile record of 4min 37 2-ssec. She was got by Charming Bells from Springheel, the dam of Globe Derby 2.8 1-5 (leading sire in Australia for some years and which line has produced many champions). Springheel was by Globe from Fidget, by Vancleve. Buz Buz was bred in New South Wales in 1915. Statistics Two Auckland-owned pacers, King’s Play and Ironside, take a prominent place among the best stake earners this season, the former securing £2780 and Ironside £2lBO. The Canterbury horse Blair Athol earned £3400. King’s Play won the Easter Handicap and President’s Handicap at the Addington April carnival, and is likely to play his role well in the next New" Zealand Trotting Cup. Ironside won the National Handicap for F. J. Smith, beating Morello who was in receipt of 12 yards. Later, in J. Fraser’s hands, he won the Ashburton and Dunedin, Trotting Cups. Blair Athol in 13 starts registered four wins and six placings. After the New Zealand Cup meeting he went into the stable of R. J. Humphreys, and in six races he won four and was placed in the others. Blair Athol’s chief successes were the Wellington Gold Trotting Cup, Dominion Handicap, and Canterbury Handicap. Morello secured £2145, for three wins and six places, his most notable victory being in the New Zealand Trotting Cup. He was second in the Dunedin Cup and won the Flying Handicap in 2min 40 4-ssec. Plutus won three races, and with place money, his total was £2llO. He scored a sensational win in the Ollivier Handicap. He won the New Brighton Free-for-All and a similar event at , the Addington Easter fixture. Colonel Grattan, the most improved pacer of the season, and who missed a place only three times in 15 starts, won £2OOO. At the Auckland Christmas meeting he gave a demonstration of his rare speed in running second in the Champion Handicap and scoring in the Premier Handicap. He took a placed record of 3min 12 l-ssec at Ashburton. Navy Blue, who registered five’firsts and four places for M. Stewart, collected £1995, and is the biggest winner of the season among the mares. Her chief win was in the Auckland Trotting Cup. Marsceres won six races for £1845. He put up a phenomenal record at the August carnival, starting five times for four wins and a second. The Tasmanian horse Logan Derby during his spring visit collected £1795. He started seven times for three firsts, two seconds and two thirds, and he won the Free-for-All in 2min 39 2-ssec. Fine Art, who won seven races and took several placings, earned £1750. At Addington recently he won in 3min 12 l-ssec. A mare who has taken high rank is Lightning Lady and with six wins and six seconds her earnings reached £lBOO. She won at all distances. Other good winners ' were: Uenuku £1595, Sandusky £l5OO, Icevus £1465, Parjsienne £1350, Gallant Knight £1320, Kenworthy £1315, Gentleman Joe £1125, Peggotty £llOO, Aidershot £1075, Cantata £1025 and Lamont £lOO5.
