Fay went to the rose garden and suddenly she saw something sparkling in -. lovely red-rose bush. She put her hand in, and there was the lovely diamond bracelet. She quickly ran back to the queen with it, and the queen was so pleased that she gave her a lovely diamond headdress.
After this the queen took them all in to afternoon tea. They drank dew out of bluebell cups and ate rose, poppy and daisy petal cakes. After tea they played games in the garden and then went home. As they were going home Fay felt something cold touch her, she gave a jump and woke up. She had been day-dreaming and it was now raining. —3 marks to Cousin Marie Neas (12), Makarewa. —VERY HIGHLY COMMENDED— Just as I was leaving for Fairyland, mother noticed I had not my dainty shoes on, but my big clumsy ones. I hurried and changed them, and then jumped on a cloud and floated away. I arrived in Fairyland with a bump, and the fairies were frightened and began to fly away. I told them I liked fairies and had come to spend the day in Fairyland. I was very surprised to see the little houses, for they were only as big as thimbles.
