LINER DELAYED BY WIND
AORANGI WITHDRAWS FOR SURVEY DAMAGED CRANKSHAFT TO BE REPLACED (United Press Association) AUCKLAND, May 28. Delayed by head winds on the Suva to Auckland stage of her voyage from Vancouver, the Canadian-Australasian liner Aorangi is now expected to arrive here late on Tuesday afternoon. The Aorangi was previously due at North Head about 2 p.m., but a wireless message received today stated that the approximate arrival time would be 5.30 p.m. on Tuesday. On reaching Sydney, the Aorangi will withdraw for routine survey and overhaul. This year the overhaul will include the replacement of the damaged half-crankshaft which resulted in cutting out in February of three of the 24 cylinders on the main engine of the liner. The Niagara, which withdrew at Sydney this month for survey, will resume in the Vancouver service. On leaving Sydney on June 8, the Monowai, which has been relieving the Niagara, will make a further voyage to replace the Aorangi.
