AUSTRALIAN TEAM SAILS x FOR AMERICA SYDNEY, May 26. Australia’s Davis Cup team, J. Bromwich, A. Quist, J. Crawford and H. Hopman, sailed on their vital tour of America today by the Mariposa. The number one player, Bromwich, in a farewell message said: “We all feel that we will have a hard fight and we hope that illness and injury will not mar our tour. We are all very fit and confident but not over-confident.” MATCH BETWEEN BRITAIN AND FRANCE LONDON, May 25. Singles were played in the Davis Cup match between Britain and France. Results:— C. E. Hare (Britain) beat B. Destremau (France), 6-2, 6-3, 3-6, 14-12. C. Boussus (France) beat R. A. Shayes (Britain), 6-2, 6-4, 6-0.
