CO-OPERATION WITH RUSSIA
Outlines Of Plan Sent To Moscow SOVIET'S DEFENCE EXPENDITURE (United Press Assn.—Telegraph Copyright) (Received May 26, 5.5 p.m.) LONDON, May 25. The broad outlines of the British plan for co-operation have been sent to the British Ambassador to Moscow, Sir William Seeds, together with a copy of the statement in the House of Commons by the Prime Minister (Mr Neville Chamberlain) yesterday for transmission to the Soviet Government. Sir William Seeds has been instructed to add that the British proposals are at present k ing formulated in detail and are shortly being sent to Moscow. Mr Chamberlain’s statement on the negotiations with the Soviet has resulted in a further sharp improvement in the markets. Despite the approach of the holidays the investment demand in all sections is increasing, notably in gift-edgeds, which were further stimulated by the success of the South African loan.
. The Supreme Council greeted with tremendous applause an announcement of a record defence budget.
M. Zverev told members that it was necessitated by the tenseness of the international situation. All countries, esnecially fascist ones, were engaging in an armaments race. The Red Army and Navy were now ready to answer with a three-fold blow' warmongers and were prepared to crush decisively those who violated Russia’s border.
The present session of Parliament will discuss foreign policy.
