WEAVING IN FELT TABLE MATS
If you have any odd strips of Yelt it is a good idea to weave felt table mats. The strips for a useful size should be jin wide and 6J in long. Use two different .colours and weave them in and out as
shown in Fig. 1. To keep the weaving firm you should join each overlay with a French knot as shown in Fig. 2. The illustrations show quite clearly how to arrange the thread and the finished knot is shown in Fig. 3.
A Kettle Holder
Another method of weaving in felt, suitable for making a kettle or teapot holder is shown in Fig. 4. Cut out two squares 7in by 7in, and then cut some pieces of old flannel or blanket to the same size and then a number of jin strips 7in long in another colour. Thread the narrow strips as shown in Fig. 4, and when
both sides are finished place the pieces of flannel or other material in between and tack the sides. , To finish take a 32in strip of some suitable binding material and sew it all round, taking care to include the ends of the strips.
