RESEARCH FACILITIES AT RUAKURA
STUDY OF DISEASES IN ANIMALS An indication of the use to which the Ruakura Farm is to be put as a research centre is provided by the new offices and laboratories which are now practically completed, covering an area of 5164 square feet. The new buildings will house offices, laboratories and libraries. There will be eight offices, six laboratories, a big library, record rooms, and store, field balance and dark rooms; a total of 20 rooms. There will be wide corridors and several porches, and provision has been made to allow additions at any later date. At present the research works at Ruakura are severely handicapped through lack of adequate facilities, and the position has become acute during the last six months as more and more research work has been instituted. As Ruakura will be one of the two centres for the new Department of Animal Disease Research, the building of new offices and laboratories was an essential item in preparing the'- farm. It is considered that even more laboratories will be needed in the nearfuture.
