MATERNITY BENEFITS SCHEME

ADDITIONAL CONTRACTS COMPLETED (United Press Association) WELLINGTON, May 23. The Department of Health announces that since the publication on Friday of the first supplementary list of acceptances of contracts for the maternity benefits scheme the following contracts have been completed: Private Maternity Hospitals: Seven at Auckland, one each at Christchurch, Dunedin, Helensville and Milton. Medical Practitioners: One at Wellington, two at Te Awamutu. Obstetric Nurse: Ten at Auckland, three at Christchurch, one each at Dunedin, Alexandra, Winton, Invercargill, Murchison, Masterton and Gisborne. These are being added to the lists. CONTRACTS SIGNED IN AUCKLAND

(United Press Association) AUCKLAND, May 23.

As a result of additional contracts being signed this week, 20 of the 28 licensed maternity hospitals in the central Auckland district have accepted service under the maternity section of the social security scheme. It was stated by officials of the Health Department that out of a total of 186 maternity beds, 134 were now available under the Act. There has, however, been no change in the position of the medical practitioners.
