RIFLE SHOOTING AT McNAB

DEFENCE CLUB’S MATCH

A match, former soldier members against the rest, was fired at the Gore Defence Rifle Club’s range at McNab in unfavourable weather. . The teams consisted of seven men a side and the ranges were 300, 500 and 600 yards. Heavy rain fell during the afternoon and visibility was poor. The former soldier members had an easy win, scoring 631 points to the other team’s 588. F. Norton gave the best performance, scoring 96. The detailed scores are as follows;— FORMER SOLDIERS

Counted out: J. A. Catto 23, 33, 29— 85; C. Mason 27, 28, 25—80; J. Lyttle 28, 10, 29-67.

A competition was fired in conjunction with the teams’ match for a trophy presented by Mr J. Lyttle, each man being handicapped for this event. The trophy was won by J. F. Mallon, who scored 100 including his handicap.

R.S.A. CLUB’S SCORES

The Returned Soldiers’ Association Miniature Rifle Club held its usual shoot last night, when there was a fairly good attendance. The A grade badge and nightly trophy was won by J. B. Doake and the B grade badge by T. McMurdo with the excellent score of 79.4. R. Foster won the B grade trophy. The following are the scores off the rifle: J. B. Doake, 79.6; T. McMurdo, 79.4; R. T.
