ADDITION TO LIME COMMITTEE

WORKERS’ REPRESENTATIVE APPOINTED (Special to The Times) WELLINGTON, May 15. The appointment of Mr J. J. Scott, of Wanganui, as a member of the Lime Investigation Committee, at present sitting in Invercargill, has been approved by Cabinet. Mr Scott’s appointment as representative of the workers is additional to the personnel of the committee previously announced as representative of the Government, the lime companies and the farmers, and was made as the result of representations made to the Government that the workers in the industry should also have a member on the committee. The announcement of Mr Scott’s appointment was made tonight by the Minister of Agriculture (the Hon. W. Lee Martin), who said that Mr Scott is well known in the trade union movement. The appointment was made last week and Mr Scott travelled south to join the committee at Invercargill at the beginning of its field investigations.
