Changeable, with Occasional Rain (Special to The Times) WELLINGTON, May 15. Following is the special weather forecast Southland, issued by the meteorological office, Wellington: Moderate to strong west to south winds, later again tending northwesterly. Weather changeable, with occasional rain, but mainly in western ranges. Temperatures moderate. Seas rather rough to rough. Following is the Dominion forecast:— Weather changeable in districts with a westerly aspect, with occasional rain. Mainly fair in eastern districts, but scattered showers extending later to parts of these also. Temperatures becoming somewhat cooler.

General Situation.—Pressure is still high across the north Tasman Sea and northern New Zealand, while a series of westerly depressions is crossing the South Island. Winds.—Between north-west and south-west, with southerlies later becoming more general, force moderate " to strong and rising to gale at times about and south of Cook Strait. Seas.—New Zealand waters, rough about Cook and Foveaux Straits and rather rough to rough on the west coast south of Kawhia, elsewhere slight to moderate; eastern Tasman Sea, west to south-west winds, moderate in the northern portion, with moderate seas; strong in the central and southern portions, with rough seas.

The weather in Invercargill yesterday was cold and wet. Showers of rain fell in the morning and also for several hours in the early evening. A westerly wind blew. At one o’clock this morning the weather was cold, with a slight westerly wind blowing, and light rain was falling.
