PARKING BREACHES

ACTION TO BE TAKEN AGAINST MOTORISTS

A decision to take action against motorists committing breaches of the city parking regulations was reached by the Invercargill City Council last night. “Since the inauguration of the new parking system on March 1, 1939, endeavours have been made by the traffic department to educate the motoring public, both by warnings and signs,” stated a report by the chief traffic inspector (Mr E. Stopford). “I think by the time this report is considered the public will have had sufficient time to become acquainted with the new methods; and it is the intention of the traffic department in the near future to take action against persons who are committing such breaches such as parking on the wrong angle, standing vehicles outside of another vehicle, abusing the time limit and standing on bus stands and so on.” The Works Committee recommended that public attention be drawn to the report.
