DOG TRIALS AT LOCHIEL

FIRST DAY’S EVENTS COMPLETION OF MAIDEN RUN Fog and heavy rain caused a delay of about an hour at the beginning of the fifteenth annual trials of the Lochiel Collie Dog Trials Club, which opened yesterday. The weather in the afternoon, however, was fine and good progress was made. Only the maiden event was completed yesterday and in the short pull most of the dogs had their runs. The trials are being held on the property of Mr James McFadzien and the sheep have been loaned by Mr P. W. Shaw. The sheep are strong-condition-ed two-tooth ewes and so far have provided a severe test for the dogs. Nineteen dogs competed in the maiden event, compared with 16 last year, and it is expected that the other events will also show increases. The attendance was much bigger than on the first day of the previous year. Competitions for men and women are being held. Results were:—
