WELCOME-HOME PARTY

FUNCTION AT WYNDHAM RIDGES On Saturday evening, the residents of Wyndham Ridges, accompanied by friends from Wyndham and surrounding districts, assembled in large numbers at the residence of Mr and Mrs Charles McKelvie, “Parkhead,” for the purpose of welcoming them home following their recent marriage. The time was pleasantly passed in dancing and cards, while at intervals items were rendered by Mi's T. Skinner, Miss Mavis Frame, Messrs R. McDonald, J. McDonald, Jenkins, C. McKelvie, sen., and Cusack. Tbe music for dancing was supplied by Messrs G. Cushnie and J. Brand, and Messrs P. O’Neill and C. Frame were masters of ceremonies. An apology was received from Mr J. C. Ronald. During the supper interval, Mr J. Woods, who presided, extended a cordial welcome to the young couple on behalf of the Ridges settlers. He referred to the long and worthy record of the McKelvie family in the district, and wished the young couple continued success in the home so well established by Mr McKelvie’s parents. On behalf of those present he asked them to accept a dinner set and canteen of cutlery, coupled with best wishes for their future happiness. Supporting remarks were made by Messrs J. Hunter, A. Young, E. Frame and T. Skinner, following which Mr McKelvie made suitable acknowledgments on behalf of his wife and himself.

Mitchell, Freshford, was the guest of her parents, Mr and Mrs William Crighton, for the Gilespie-Strang wedding.
