PRESENTATION MADE TO RAILWAYMAN

Mr J. Davenport has retired from the position of checker in the B railway shed at Invercargill and on Saturday he was made a presentation by fellow workmen. . Mr J. Thomsen presided at the function and spoke of the esteem and respect in which Mr Davenport was held. They were sorry to lose such a fine workmate. Mr J. Lythgoe, storeman, expressed his regret at the departure of Mr Davenport. H 4 had been a very popular member of the staff and he wished him a happy retirement. Messrs C. Couling, J. Gray, F. Woodward and W. Jenkins also spoke. Mr Thomsen presented Mr Davenport with a rug, a case of pipes and a tobacco pouch. Mr Davenport replied and expressed thanks for the kind remarks.
