SAFETY SIGNS IN BAD PLACES

DISTRACTING MOTORISTS’

ATTENTION

Road safety signs which practically defeated their purpose were mentioned last evening at a meeting of the general committee of the Automobile Association (Southland). It was stated that road safety signs such as “Take time, not life,” were placed on corners where they caused a “dangerous distraction to the motorist’s attention.” On the motion of Mr M. M. Macdonald, it was decided to refer the matter to the South Island Motor Union, suggesting that steps be taken to have the signs placed on straight sections of road.
