First Day’s Results At Avondale PIRATE KING WINS RAILWAY (United Press Association) AUCKLAND, April 15. The Avondale Jockey Club’s autumn meeting opened today in fine weather before a large attendance. The course was fast. Te Poto reached the front quickly and lead into the straight from Palustre, Lady Meath, Silver Eagle, Pirate King and Gay Seton. A furlong from the post Palustre, Lady Meath, Pirate King and Gay Seton challenged. Pirate King finished strongly to win by a neck from Gay Seton who also came home well half a head back. Palustre was a close fourth. Te Poto was fifth.
