NATIONAL SERVICE IN SOUTH AFRICA

COMPREHENSIVE REGISTRATION SCHEME CAPE TOWN, April 14. The registration of Class A reservists in the citizen force is proceeding, says a statement by the South African Defence Department. This is the first step towards a more comprehensive registration scheme, features of which are the extension of compulsory registration to all citizens below the age of 45 years and the compilation of a national reserve of all between 17 years and 60 years of age. It also records all those whose normal occupations may be regarded as key positions in time of war.
