RIFLE SHOOTING AT McNAB “VVAPINSCHAW” MEETING On Saturday afternoon the annual “Wapinschaw” organized by Mr W. McKenzie, of East Chatton, was held on the Gore Defence Rifle Club’s range at McNab. The tanges .were, seven shots kneeling at 200 yards; seven shots standing at 200 yards; seven shots lying at 300 and 500 yards. The competition was open to all-comers, novices receiving eight points handicap from rifle club members. A lamb was given by Mr F. Wallis, minor, to the competitor with the highest score. This was won by P. F, Hay, with 121 out of a possible of 140. A cake donated by Mr J. Hoffman to the novice with the highest score was won by O. Fitzpatrick with 119, including eight points handicap. A prize of 10/6 was given by Mr D. Windle for the competitor with the most bullseyes. Three competitors, A. Falconer, H. Redman and P. Hay, with 13 bulls each tied for this prize.

- ' ' GOLFThe members of the Gore Golf Club; played a stroke match over the clubs, new course of 18 holes on Saturday afternoon. A big number of players took part in the match, which was won by L. E. West, who returned a card of 88-21-67. The best scores were:

BOWLS The combined closing day of the Hokonui Bowling Club and the Hokonui Women’s Bowling Club was held on Saturday afternoon in fine weather. A combined match was held during the afternoon, 10 rinks taking part. There was a big attendance of members and rinks from the Te Rangi and Clinton clubs were also present. A match was played during the afternoon between the Gore club and the visiting players, the match resulting in a win for the visitors by 151 points to 134. Results are as follows:— V. G.
