SEAMEN CHARGED WITH DESERTING

AUCKLAND, April 15. Arrested in the city last night two young German seamen belonging to the steamer Dortmund appeared in the Magistrate’s Court today charged with being seamen lawfully engaged at Hamburg they had deserted on April 13. They were Heinz Welling, aged 18, and Wilhelm Ostkaemper, aged 20. The police said the Dortmund had sailed for Sydney yesterday and they obtained a remand until Friday, the men to remain in i custody.
