REMITS ON HEALTH AND EDUCATION

LABOUR CONFERENCE RECOMMENDATIONS (United Press 'Association) WELLINGTON. April 14. Reporting to the annual conference of the New Zealand Labour Party, the committee on education and health recommended that the following sections of the remits be approved and forwarded to the Government for favourable consideration: — The abolition of corporal punishment; raising of the school-leaving age to 15 years; training in kindergarten work at all training colleges; teaching of disease preventive work methods in all schools; and adult education classes. The committee recommended the teaching of sex hygiene and first aid in all schools, to be embodied as far as practicable in health and hygiene instruction.

The sections not favoured included one urging the abolition of Bible-in-school teaching.

The recommendations were adopted in all instances.
