WOMEN’S DIVISION

WOODLANDS BRANCH Mrs W. Henderson presided over a good attendance of members at the annual meeting of the Woodlands branch of the Women’s Division of the Farmers’ ■Union. The balance-sheet which showed a satisfactory credit balance was adopted. Mrs Henderson gave an address on the work of the branch during the past year. A report of the dress-making classes which were very well attended, was given by Mrs A. Frew. The competitions held during the past year, resulted in the following gaining most points in the various sections: Best Bloom, Miss F. Henderson 1, Mrs J. Robbie 2, Mesdames C. J. Roseveare and T. McKinnel equal 3. Industrial, Miss F. Henderson 1, Miss D. Dewe 2, Mrs C. J. Roseveare 3. Mrs Roseveare, in thanking Mrs Henderson for the work she had done in the last year, presented her with a bouquet of roses. The election of office-bearers resulted: President, Mrs W. Henderson (re-elected); secretary and treasurer, Miss F. Henderson (re-elected); senior vice-president, Mrs J. Robbie; vicepresidents, Mesdames A. O. Fleming, T. McKinnel and C. J. Roseveare; committee, Mesdames J. Nicol and A. Frew, and Misses M. Campbell and Marjorie McNay; advisory members, Mesdames A. V. Fleming and J. C. Hannan; competition secretary, Miss Mary Campbell; librarian, Mrs H. Ward; # auditor, Mr C. J. Roseveare. Mrs J. Robbie passed a vote or thanks to the secretary, Miss Henderson, for her untiring work and help. The roll call, “A New Roll Call” was well responded to. The result of the Best Bloom was! At the annual meeting of the Winton branch of the Women’s Division of the Farmers’ Union, the president, Mrs J. H. Thomson, presided over a big attendance of members. . Apologies for absence were received from Mesdames C. Grimwood, T. S. Smith, Trim (Browns), Misses D. Gunn and J. Thomson. i The president, in moving the adoption of the annual report and balancesheet, thanked those who had helped to make the branch a success. The election of office-bearers resulted: President, Mrs J. H. Thomson (re-elected); secretary and treasurer, Mrs L. G. Smart (re-elected); vicepresidents, Mesdames G. McLeod, H. McCallum, R. King, J. P. Moore, Cowan and Miss N. King; committee, Mesdames W. Norman, J. Scobie, J. Robertson, C. Stenhouse, H. Cox, —. Maley A. Nicholson, W. Hamilton, M. Reilly, H. A. Pierce, Misses Thomson and Bourke; advisory board members, Mesdames T. S. Smith and J. H. Thomson; delegates to executive, Mesdames J. Scobie and L. G. Smart. Mrs A. Nicholson was again appointed to take charge of the best bloom competition. It was decided that each vice-president be responsible for an entertainment each month.
