ORIGINAL STORIES

—HIGHLY COMMENDED— I am now a poor dilapidated Buick car lying in a garage waiting to be made into scrap iron, and I will tell you of my experiences. To begin with, I was once a smart green Buick car. I was taken from a garage many years ago and taken to a farm. I was the proudest car you ever did see, as I spun along those dusty roads. My first sad experience was many years ago not long after I was taken to my new home. I was travelling home after a busy day, when suddenly I came to a sharp bend in the road and I went “crash,’.’ right into another car. I was a wreck, but after a few days in the car hospital I was restored to perfect shape again. Another accident I had was when I hit a telegraph pole and knocked one of my lights off and bent the other right up in the air. I was a sorry sight and, of course, the nasty people who saw me laughed.

I have had several other mishaps but the car hospital always fixed me up again. Of course I did not feel so good, and other cars always appeared better than me and just whizzed by, but all the same I was happy and gave my owner a great deal of enjoyment.

Then just recently, to my horror, I was travelling along when suddenly I saw a train coming, and my silly driver could not stop me in time. What a fright I got. I was hurled along the line. My owner jumped clear, but I crashed about until my windows were all smashed and my doors wrenched off and my side torn in half. I did look a sight when at last I was thrown clear into a ditch. Then along came a wrecking crane and pulled me up. and dashed me down on the road. What a sight I was. I was then declared worthless and pulled into this garage, where I lie to this day, just waiting my turn to be pulled to pieces. Oh deal, my end is getting nearer, I am just laughed at in here. —2 marks to Cousin Yvonne Hall A.C., (11', 214 Biggar street.
