ORIGINAL VERSE
BEAUTY The rosy tints of early morn, Crimson' poppies in golden corn, Little green leaf-buds on the trees; There is beauty in all of these. Gambolling lambs of snowy white, 1 Twinkling stars in the darkest night, The golden tints, that autumn brings, What beauty can surpass these things? —3 marks to Cousin Iris Winsloe, A.C. (14), Merrivale R.D., Otautau. THE TRAIN I love to travel in the train, • • To hear the whistle blow again, With hiss of steam, increase of speed, , I feel very happy indeed. ' I think as we whirl around a bend, My Grannie’s waiting at the end, And as we rush out of a tunnel ' Black smoke is coming from the funnel. Onward, still onward do we go, I’m going to enjoy myself, I know, And when at last the station I see, My little heart is filled with glee. —3 marks to Cousin Victor Jones, A.C. (8), 71 Conon street.
