BETWEEN OURSELVES

Cousin Nellie Mark: There is an inky blot on your name, so I am not sure that I have spelt it. correctly. Your painting did not win a prize this week, but try again, my new cousin.

Cousin Maureen,O’Brien: What an unfortunate accident that was. I suppose it will be some time before you can use your wrist or your leg. You must rest them and see how soon they will be better. Has Mr Bastion sent’ the name of a pen-friend? Cousin Maree Breen: Your birthday has been entered in the Birthday Book, and when December comes along you will find your name in the column for Many Happy Returns. Has your enrolment card arrived? . How do you like lessons by correspondence? Cousin Florrie: Your letter arrived too late to be answered last .week, but the badge was sent immediately. Did it arrive before the Easter holidays? Are you taking part in the school concert? Do you sing or recite?

Cousin Patricia Hynes: I was pleased to see an entry from you this week. Are my Gore cousins working for otlr bazaar? If you are thinking of forming a clan, let me know, and I will come to the first meeting.

Cousin Garden Girl: What a number of interesting things you make at school. I have seen some of the exhibitions, and have admired the work on display. Would you like to help with one of the stalls at the bazaar?

Cousin Freckles: What a good long letter from you this week. It must have taken a long time to write, and as I said before, you do write well for such a small cousin. Perhaps there will be another hook like that for you next week. Cousin Bookworm: If you are such a good cook perhaps you will be able to make a pie or a cake for the bazaar. What busy cooks, bakers

and needle-workers my Little Southlanders will be. t

Cousin Peter the Pirate: How do you like being back at school again? I suppose you will be having examinations before the end of the term, and that means you will need to work hard. Cousin Sweet Briar: When I was out in the country last week I saw Forest Hill. Did you have far to go on your bicycles? You must have been tired by the time you reached the top of the hill.

Cousin Water Lily: Perhaps Mr Weatherman will send some" fine days soon and you will be able, to swim again before Jack Frost visits the province. What colour is your new bathing suit? ( Cousin Flower-o’-the-Lily: Thank you for the sharpener contributions. You will see them in the Chronicle scon. Watch for your prize, it is being sent this week. Were- the hedgehogs alive after their long journey in the bag?

Cousin Coronation Lassie: Are you looking forward to your week-end at Lumsden? The time will soon be here, and then off you will go, leaving the others at home; Have you begun sewing for the bazaar?

Cousin Bracken: It must seem strange to be back at school after such a long absence. Would you rather be at school than on the farm? I hope you really will keep your good resolution this time.

Cousin Blackbeard: You forgot your pen-name this week, and Percy Pencil had a difficult time trying to remember the new one you chose last week. Every day seems to be a busy day for my cousins on the farm.

Cousin Daddy’s Sweetheart: As long as the entries are neat, I do not mind if you print them. If you are printing the stories and poems though, use a script which has small letters as well as capitals.
