WOMAN MARKSMAN.— Mrs J. B. Doake ( City Guards) the first woman to take-part in the Otago rifle championship meeting, whose high standard of marksmanship was a feature of the Easter meeting at Dunedin. She won prize money in every event in which she competed and topped the Southland contingent of 37 riflemen in the Dunedin match on Easter Monday. Mrs Doake began open range shooting last year and competed in the New Zealand championship meeting at Trentham this year. She is a first-class miniature rifle shot and is secretary of the Invercargill Ladies’ Miniature Rifle Club. She shot for Southland in the annual miniature range match against Otago last year and scored the possible.
