CONTRIBUTIONS FROM ENGLAND

LONDON, March 9. The aviation section of . the New Zealand Centennial Exhibition promises to be exceptionally interesting, judging by the exhibits to be lent by famous English firms. Models of aircraft, actual engines, photographs, and films are to be sent to Wellington in the next few months. De Havillands are sending models and photographs of the Tiger Moth, the Moth Minor, the Dragon Rapide and the Flamingo. From Vickers will go the Spitfire and Wellesley bomber, and from Short Brothers models of their Empire flying-boats. Phillips and Powis are sending models and photographs of the Miles Magister, the Miles Monarch, Miles Master, and Miles Mentor. There will also be models and photographs of the Airspeed Oxford and Envoy, the. Blackburn Baffin, the Blackburn Shark, and the Blackburn Squa, while the Bristol Aeroplane Company will lend a - Blenheim model with' a 19-inch wing span, and a Boinbay .Transport aircraft model, with a 48-inch wing span. Gipsy Moth and Gipsy Six engines, the latter with controllable airscrews, will be lent by De Havillands. The Gipsy Six: will be in sections ana mounted on a table with manual operating gear to move the blades of the propeller. There will also be shown in sections an airscrew control unit. H. M. Hobson Components, Ltd., will lend an AVT carburetter in sections, and British Thomson-Houston twosectioned magnetos, an air compressor in sections, and a starter motor in sections. PEGASUS ENGINE | The Bristol Aeroplane Company will contribute a full-size Pegasus exhibition engine, driven by an electric motor, and internally illuminated. Methods of aerial photography and gunnery will be demonstrated by the Williamson Manufacturing Company, who have lent a sectional Eagle survey camera, a cine gun on a stand, and a demonstration panel with a selection of mosaic and oblique aerial views. Gunnery training will also be explained. The Smith Aircraft Instruments Company have lent a panel showing instrument equipment for two-engined aircraft. The Power Boat Company have contributed scale models of a high speed launch, 66 inches long, x together with a target boat, 45 inches long. Posters are being contributed by British Airways and the Jersey and Guernsey Airways, and films and photographs are being sent by De Havillands. These will include interior views of their aircraft, engine, and airscrew factories. There will be 20-minute 16 m.m. films dealing with the manufacture of aircraft at Hatfield. One will be a talking film, and another a silent. Vickers are contributing a film of the Wellesley long-distance'flight, and there will be two films showing the acceptance test flights of a Spitfire and a Wellington. Imperial Airways are also expected to send a special exhibit.
