MINIATURE RIFLE SHOOTING
INVERCARGILL DEFENCE CLUB The opinion was expressed at the annual meeting of the Invercargill Defence Miniature Rifle Club last night that the prospects were bright for a good season. There was a good attendance of members. In moving the adoption of the annual report, the chairman (Mr F. G. Henderson) referred to the excellent shooting by the club during the last season. Several members had gained prizes in the Southland championships, four members being selected for the Southland representative team. The balancesheet showed the satisfactory state of the club finances. He appealed to all new members to support the new committee. The committee was going carefully into the question of the range for the new season and the chairman said he was hopeful that ideal facilities would be available. The report and balance-sheet were adopted. The following office-bearers were elected: —Chairman, Mr F. E. Mayhew; secretary, Mr A. Pomeroy; committee, Messrs W. E. Diack, A. Blee, B. Darroch, J. Storrie and G. Wilson; range officers, Messrs F. G. Henderson and B. Darroch; delegates to Southland Association, Messrs G. Wilson and F. E. Mayhew; protest committee, Messrs Mayhew, Pomeroy and Darroch; auditor, Mr W. Milley. The opening night was fixed for April 19.
