ANNUAL TOURNAMENT AT ROXBURGH MANY KEEN CONTESTS The annual Easter tournament of the Roxburgh Tennis Club again proved very popular, visitors being present from all parts of Otago and Southland. The finals were very keenly contested and some brilliant play was seen. The following are the results:— MEN’S SINGLES CHAMPIONSHIP Semi-finals.—J. F. Collis beat A. McKay, 9-6; S. Falconer beat A. Chisman, 9-2. Final.—J. F. Collis (Invercargill) beat S. Falconpr (Dunedin) 9-1. MIXED DOUBLES HANDICAP Semi-finals.—Falconer and Miss Kelly beat McKay and Miss Woods, 25-23; Collis and Miss Mehaffey beat L. Churchill and Miss Deegan, 25-15. Final.—J. F. Collis and Miss Mehaffey (Invercargill) beat S. Falconer (Dunedin) and Miss Kelly (Invercargill) 2624. WOMEN’S SINGLES CHAMPIONSHIP Semi-finals.—Mrs Frew beat Mrs Chisman, 7-3; Miss Mehaffey beat Miss Dobbie, 7-3. Final.—Miss Mehaffey (Invercargill) beat Mrs Frew (Roxburgh), 7-3. MEN’S DOUBLES CHAMPIONSHIP Semi-finals.—Chisman and McDonald beat Guest and Matheson, 9-6; McKay and Churchill beat Botting and Allen, 9-5. Final.—McKay (Invercargill) and Churchill (Dunedin) beat Chisman (Dunedin) and McDonald (Invercargill), 9-1. WOMEN’S DOUBLES CHAMPIONSHIP Semi-finals.—Miss Mehaffey and Miss McDonald beat Miss Deegan and Miss Wood, 7-5; Mrs Irvine and Mrs McLeod beat Mrs Frew and Mrs Thom, 7-1. Final.—Mrs Irvine (Edendale) and Mrs McLeod (Gore) beat Miss Mehaffey (Invercargill) and Miss McDonald (Invercargill), 7-5. MEN’S DOUBLES HANDICAP Semi-finals.—McLeod and Irvine beat Botting and Allen, 30-22; Falconer and George beat Hutcheson and Wallace, 30-22. Final.—S. Falconer (Dunedin) and R. George (Roxburgh) beat D. McLeod (Gore) and W. Irvine (Edendale), 3018. WOMEN’S DOUBLES HANDICAP Semi-finals.—Mrs Irvine and Mrs McLeod beat Mrs Dunnage and Miss Ewan, 25-18; Miss Wood and Miss Deegan beat Mrs Sonntag and Mrs Chisman, 25-< 21. Final.—Mrs Irvine (Edendale) and Mrs McLeod (Gore) beat Miss Wood (Invercargill) and Miss Deegan (Invercargill), 25-21. MEN’S SINGLES HANDICAP Semi-finals.—S. Falconer beat A. Miller, 30-15; S. Blaikie beat L. Churchill, 30-22. Final—S. Falconer (Dunedin) beat S. Blaikie (Invercargill), 30-21. WOMEN’S SINGLES HANDICAP Semi-finals.—Miss Wood beat Mrs Irvine, 25-15; Miss Kelly beat Mrs McLeod, 25-17. Final.—Miss Wood (Invercargill) beat Miss Kelly (Invercargill), 25-23.
