ONLY TWO BOMBERS LEFT

ENTRIES IN AMERICAN CONTEST CRASH

(Received April 12, 7.45 p.m.) WASHINGTON, April 11. Only two entries those of the Stearman and Glenn Martin companies, remain out of four submitted by aeroplane manufacturers for tests to select a standard type of bomber for the air expansion programme. The North American Aviation Company’s entry, a twin-engined bomber built at a cost of 500,000 dollars, crashed today and was destroyed by fire. The pilot was killed. The Douglas Aircraft Company’s entry crashed in January, precipitating the inquiry by Congress because a French air official was aboard.
